Day 1

(08:30 am - 06:00 pm) 160 kms. Chiang Mai - Pokalong
Starts from Chiang Mai. - 1h on the road - Beginning of the red track - 3h of uncharted tracks - Passing through Karen and Lisu villages. - Lunch break around 01:00 pm in a small village restaurant facing a temple. - 2h on uncharted tracks - Magnificent forest of teaks, tropical oaks, bayans, bamboo and giant ferns ... remote Karen village - Arrival at a motorway - 30 minutes of easy track before heading toward a Karen village on 2h of uncharted tracks - We drive along the mountain tops and witness a fabulous sunset. Finally we arrive at a forgotten village, deep inside the forest, a dead end. We are welcomed by the school teacher Miss Klang. She made of this Karen village an example to be followed, great education but also immaculate surroundings, not a single plastic or garbage on the ground. She's taking care of 4 orphans, if we can bring any useful stuff to us, she'll be grateful. Dinner at the school, prepared by Miss Klang students. Evening by the camp fire. Sleeping at the camp with tent, sleeping bags and mosquito nets.

Day 2
|
(09:00 am - 06:00 pm) 180 km. Pokalong - Chiang Mai
Start from the Happy Village after breakfast, 2h of uncharted tracks - We're still on the mountain tops - Very nice view of Thailand's highest peak, the Doi Inthanon. Stop in a Karen village named 'the village of the purple bananas'. 2h of uncharted tracks before arriving at the main track. Stop in a village for a late lunch at a local restaurant. 1h of tracks and paved roads. We'll see elephants after their day at work. Visit of the monks caves. Bath at the waterfall - 1h of mountain road back to Chiang Mai.
